Carney sends army to northwestern Ontario as wildfires blaze in the province

The Canadian Armed Forces will be helping with emergency airlift evacuations near Sandy Lake First Nation, the prime minister announced Sunday morning.

As wildfires spread in Flin Flon, Manitoba, more than 18,000 people were evacuated from the province since last week.


The Canadian Armed Forces have been deployed to northwestern Ontario as wildfires continue to burn across the interior provinces. 

Personnel and aircraft have been sent to the region to help with emergency airlift evacuations near Sandy Lake First Nation, Prime Minister Mark Carney announced  on Sunday morning.
