Peel police are providing a security detail to Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown after he and his family were threatened.
Brown and Peel police Deputy Chief Nick Milinovich answered questions about the investigation that is currently underway at an unrelated news conference on Tuesday.
Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown said the threats against him and his family came in the last week of June.

He said he won’t back down on his tough anti-crime stance on issues like tow truck violence.
“That’s not going to change my approach,” Brown said in an interview.
“This is not the first time I’ve received a death threat,” Brown added. “I’m sure it won’t be the last.”
He declined to speculate on what sparked the latest threat.
“It’s certainly alarming for my family,” he said.
Heightened security from police has helped his sense of security, he added.
“I feel safer,” Brown said.
Milinovich said the threat came from within Canada but was not more specific.
“The reality is we have received and are investigating a threat that was made not just against the mayor, but his family as well,” the senior officer said.
“Because of the nature of that threat, we felt it was prudent, out of an abundance of caution, to supplement him with police security until that threat was investigated appropriately.”
The deputy chief said an update would be forthcoming.
Though Brown’s police detail may be temporary, other municipal leaders in the have employed full-time protection.
