As Gausman recently told the Star’s Mike Wilner, he and his family — wife Taylor and daughters Sadie, six, and Sutton, three — enjoy spending days off at Brick Works, where they buy flowers, pots and birdhouses.
Gausman previously told the Star his family, who live north of Eglinton Avenue, has “thoroughly enjoy(ed) being here. We talk all the time about how great a decision it was that we made to come here.â€
Things have gone well on the field, too. In the first four years of his five-year contract, which he signed before the 2022 season, Gausman has posted a 3.53 earned-run average across 116 starts. He led the American League in strikeouts in 2023, when he finished third in Cy Young Award voting, and has been worth 2.0 wins above replacement, according to Baseball Reference, so far this year.
Gausman’s apparent car woes are not unique. Last July, former One Direction star Niall Horan said he had to walk to his concert at Scotiabank Arena because “traffic’s too bad in ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½.†In a 2023 interview, Tom Cruise asked, “What’s up with the traffic in ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½? Have they figured this out?â€
And two NHL teams — the Carolina Hurricanes and the Utah Mammoth — have been forced to walk to Scotiabank Arena because of traffic.
Take note, Gausman. Parking is free when you walk.
