The Beer Store will close 11 more locations across Ontario on Sept. 28.
The province’s largest beer retailer on Monday announced the closures, which are part of over 80 other expected closures announced since May 2024. The affected stores are in Brampton, Bala, Ont., Clinton, Ont. and number of smaller towns and communities.Ìý
“The Beer Store is adapting to changes in the retail market in Ontario. This is an ongoing process and includes making the difficult decision to close some retail locations,” said Ozzie Ahmed, the Beer Store’s vice president of retail, .Ìý
“The Beer Store recognizes the contributions our employees make to the business and in the communities where we operate. All efforts will be made to support employees through this process in alignment with commitments and agreements,” the release reads.Ìý
Ontario’s largest beer retailer has announced closure plans for 83 locations since May 2024.
In the statement, the company urged customers to continue returning the more than 1.6 billion empty alcohol containers they process annually.
They also reminded consumers that as of Jan. 1, provincial regulations will require all grocery stores that sell alcohol to accept the return of empties and refund accordingly.Ìý

South Porcupine, Ont.: 4145 Harold Ave.
Wawa, Ont.: 156 Mission Rd.
Wingham, Ont.: 482 Josephine St.
