Those relying on the TTC subway this weekend to make their way around the city should plan ahead, as major closures are set to disrupt service on both Line 1 Yonge-University and Line 2 Bloor-Danforth.Â
There is no service on Line 1 between St George and St Andrew stations on Saturday and Sunday because of planned station work.
Shuttle buses will not be running along this stretch, the , though Wheel-Trans service will be available for customers requiring accessible transit.
Four stations — Museum, Queen’s Park, St. Patrick and Osgoode — will also be closed. Riders can go to open stations in the area to buy fares and connect to surface routes until regular service resumes on Monday.Â
Service on Line 2 between Kipling and Keele stations will be fully suspended for planned work Saturday, with shuttle buses running in place of trains until around 2 a.m. Sunday. Runnymede and High Park stations will be closed, the , while others will remain open for PRESTO services and connecting buses.Â
Extra Wheel-Trans buses and the 149 Etobicoke-Bloor Accessibility Shuttle buses will be operating to assist riders with accessibility needs. Regular subway service is set to resume Sunday.Â
Line 2 will have a late start Sunday between St. George and Broadview stations due to structural maintenance, with subway service not starting until 11 a.m.Â
Shuttle buses will operate between 8 a.m. and 11 a.m., and Bay and Sherbourne stations will be closed during these hours.
These planned disruptions are part of ongoing infrastructure upgrades and “state-of-good-repair” work, the TTC said. In total, 38 full weekend closures are scheduled for the year.Â
Road closures around the city
There are also road closures to keep in mind as thousands of athletes gather for the ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½ Triathlon Festival on Sunday.
On Sunday between 2 a.m. and noon, the eastbound Gardiner Expressway will be closed from Humber to the Don Valley Parkway, triathlon organizers said in an .
Also between 2 a.m. and noon, northbound DVP lanes will be closed from the Gardiner to Eglinton Avenue.
Finally, the westbound curb lane of Lake Shore Boulevard will be closed from 5 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the race.
The Beaches International Jazz Festival will also shut down Queen Street East from Woodbine Avenue to Beech Avenue between 6 p.m. Saturday and midnight, the festival said on its .
Ossfest will also close Ossington Avenue to traffic between Dundas Street West and Queen Street from 6 a.m. Saturday to 3 a.m. Sunday. Â
Korea Town Festival will also shut down Euclid Avenue between Bloor Street West and Oscar Ryan Lane from 7 a.m. Saturday until midnight.
Motorheads should know that Dream Wheels on Eglinton will close Eglinton Avenue West between Avenue Road and Russell Hill Road from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday.
