An officer allegedly discharged their weapon and shot a man Thursay night, as police tried to stop the vehicle near Kennedy Road and Sheppard Avenue, York Regional Police said.
A “sequence of events” led to a man being shot after an officer allegedly discharged their weapon as police attempted to stop a suspected stolen vehicle near Kennedy Road and Sheppard Avenue on Thursday evening.
A man is in hospital with gunshot wounds after a police officer allegedly fired their gun during a stolen vehicle stop in Scarborough Thursday night.Â
Ontario’s police watchdog, the Special Investigations Unit, told the Star they were en route to the scene around 9 p.m. to investigate.
York Regional Police said officers followed a stolen vehicle from Kennedy Road and Clayton Drive in Markham into ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½ shortly after 7 p.m.Â

When officers attempted to stop the vehicle near Kennedy Road and Bonis Avenue, a “sequence of events,” led to one officer allegedly discharging their weapon, shooting a lone man in the vehicle, York police said.Â
According to police, first aid was immediately administered to the man.Â
Paramedics said they transported one person to hospital with serious, but not life threatening injuries.
