A teenager turned himself into police less than 48 hours after 14-year-old Abdoul Aziz Sarr was fatally stabbed in Leslieville over the weekend.Â
But the announcement that a 16-year-old boy had been charged with first-degree murder in his death was not made by ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½ police until Thursday, a day after the boy’s family buried him following an emotional funeral.
The 16-year-old was scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday after turning himself in, .

Sarr’s parents on Thursday gave the Star permission to use his name and photo.
On Saturday around 10:10 p.m., ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½ paramedics were flagged down near a McDonalds in the area of  where they found the 14-year-old boy injured. He was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Sarr was described by his mentor at the funeral on Wednesday as a disciplined Muslim, devoted son and basketball fan.Â
“Abdoul Aziz was a gift to all of us,†Omar Qadri, his Islamic teacher told the mourners gathered at a Scarborough mosque before funeral prayers.
