ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½ police charged the protesters with assaulting a peace officer, obstructing police, mischief, carrying a concealed weapon and prohibited device.

The group was “uncooperative and repeatedly ignored police direction,” a police spokesperson told the Star in an email, adding that protesters refused to clear intersections and obstructed and assaulted officers.
One officer sustained minor injuries, and the windshield of a police vehicle cracked after being hit by a thrown object, the spokesperson said.
One of the people arrested had an outstanding warrant, the police spokesperson added, noting more information would be available at a later time.
Police did not confirm the subject of the protest. The Palestinian Youth Movement (PYM) ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½, a branch of the national activist group for Palestine, shared a post on Instagram showing a video of a pro-Palestine protest at the same date and location. The account also .Ìý
“Let us be clear: no amount of police repression will stop our movement,” PYM ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½ wrote.Ìý
Investigators did not comment on the allegations of police aggression in a press release from the ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½ Legal Support Committee, a group established in October 2023 to provide legal support for pro-Palestine protestors. The group alleges that police grabbed demonstrators who were chanting in the crowd and arrested speakers mid-address.
“Over the past two years, we have witnessed this consistent pattern of police aggression with the sole aim of criminalizing and silencing those who dare to speak out against genocide,” PYM ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½ said in an email to the Star.
