A man is facing multiple charges after a police helicopter observed a motorcyclist travelling close to 300 km/h, York Regional officers said.
Police were patrolling near in Aurora when they noticed a motorcyclist speeding northbound on the highway.Â
Officers in a helicopter followed the rider to a gas station on , where he allegedly stole some fuel and took off again before police could arrive.Â

The driver then got back onto Highway 404 and headed south to Highway 407, where he then travelled west while “driving recklessly,” police said .
“The motorcyclist was observed lane splitting, weaving through traffic and reaching speeds in excess of 200 km/h,” the release reads.
In a video shared by police, the rider can be seen passing vehicles and at one point, officers can be heard saying he split the lane between a vehicle and bus before driving through a red light.
Officers followed the man to a business on Avebury Road in Mississauga, where he allegedly tried to dodge the police by entering a door underground with the help of another person. Investigators found the motorcycle inside the building and found it had a counterfeit licence plate.
The man allegedly left the business using a rideshare. Police arrested the suspect at his home in Richmond Hill.
A 37-year-old man was charged with dangerous operation, theft under $5,000, stunt driving, use plate not authorized for vehicle, speeding and driving with no insurance.
