Anita Anand denies report that Canadian-made weapons are being sent to Israel

No Canadian-made lethal weapons are being sent to Israel for its war in Gaza, Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand said Friday, denying a report that accused the Liberal government of continuing to allow arms shipments despite its claims to the contrary.

OTTAWA—No Canadian-made lethal weapons are being sent to Israel for its war in Gaza, Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand said Friday, denying a report that accused the Liberal government of continuing to allow arms shipments despite its claims to the contrary.

Declaring that the Carney government will “not allow Canadian-made weapons to fuel this conflict in any way,” Anand said Ottawa has refused any new permits for “controlled goods” that could be used in Gaza, and that it froze existing permits last year that could allow military components to be used in Israel’s military offensive.
