Canada Day is here once again which means plenty of fireworks and road closures.
There are seven Canada Day bashes around ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½ and a couple of them might cause headaches for drivers.
Here’s what you need to know if you’re moving around the city Tuesday.
Mel Lastman Square
The city’s big celebration will be at Mel Lastman Square. The family-oriented bash will have children’s activities, live musical performances, food and beverage vendors and a four minute-long fireworks display that kicks off at 10 p.m.
The event will shut down Hillcrest Avenue between Yonge Street and Doris Avenue from 7 p.m. to midnight, , adding that local traffic will be able to get through from Doris Avenue.Â
Drivers should also be prepared for a potential closure to Yonge Street’s southbound lanes between Park ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½ Avenue and North York Boulevard, from 7 p.m. to 11:59 p.m.
TTC buses in the area will be on detour starting at 7 p.m.
Ashbridges Bay
The fireworks display on the beach will also begin at 10 p.m. and can be watched from the boardwalk between Emdaabiimok Avenue and Victoria Park Avenue.
Police are warning drivers of “major delays” on Lakeshore Boulevard East and the surrounding roads.Â
“People should consider taking public transit, if possible, and the TTC will be adding additional buses to routes,” .
The 22 Coxwell and the 92 Woodbine will be running extra buses for the event.
East York Parade
The east-end parade starts at Dieppe Park at 10:30 a.m. and heads east along Cosburn Avenue to end at Stan Wadlow Park.Â
